$1.1 million Demand Ends in Defense Verdict

Richard Muench and Sandra Alhabbal recently secured a complete defense verdict following a five-day jury trial in Los Angeles County involving a disputed automobile versus pedestrian accident.

The plaintiff alleged that our client negligently struck them while they were crossing the street, claiming significant injuries including a traumatic brain injury, neck and back injuries, and a hand injury requiring surgery. They sought recovery for more than $100,000 in medical expenses, well above the available insurance policy limits, and ultimately asked the jury to award approximately $1.1 million in damages.

The defense maintained that the plaintiff was solely responsible for the accident after crossing outside of a designated crosswalk. At trial, the defense also challenged the credibility of the plaintiff's claimed injuries by presenting evidence that conflicted with statements they had made in prior litigation.

After five days of testimony and evidence, the jury returned a complete defense verdict, finding that our client was not negligent.
